Brazil’s loss to Morocco dropped Brazil to third place
London: Argentina won the first position in the FIFA world ranking after a long period of 6 years.
Last year, in the final of the FIFA World Cup, Argentina won the honor of becoming the football champion by defeating France on penalties after an interesting match. The world champions beat Panama and Curacao in 2023 friendlies to clinch top spot, while France pipped Brazil to third place after defeating the Netherlands and Republic of Ireland in preliminary qualifiers.
Brazil suffered an upset defeat by Morocco in a friendly match this year, which was Morocco’s first win against Brazil. Serbia jumped 4 places to 25th, Scotland moved up 6 places. At 36th, Romania improved by 6 places to 46th. In the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers, Algeria moved up 6 places to 34th, Egypt moved up 4 places to 35th, while Canada topped after back-to-back CONCACAF Nations League victories. It has improved by 6 ranks to the 47th position and thus has made it to the top 50. It should be noted that the next ranking by FIFA will be released in July 2023.
